The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practice. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. The RN collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and positive patient experience.

The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator delivers high quality, evidence based education to clinical staff across the consortium. This role involves instruction in diverse settings, including in person classrooms and virtual learning environments. The educator must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and instructional design skills, along with a minimum of five years of acute care nursing experience. Responsibilities include creating, reviewing, and evaluating educational content to ensure clinical accuracy, regulatory compliance with CMS and DNV standards, and overall effectiveness. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.

  • Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS) is required.

  • PLUS instructor certification in a least two of the following: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), and Basic Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO).

  • Clinical competency required within 3 months and every 3 years.

  • High Risk Competency required within 3 months and every year.

New Nursing Program Graduates:

  • BLS required at the time of hire

  • All certifications required for the area of practice must be obtained within six (6) months of hire (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, as applicable)

Experienced Nurses - New to a Specialty Area:

  • Experienced nurses entering a new specialty must obtain all required specialty‑specific and advanced certifications within six (6) months of hire (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, based on practice area requirements)

Experienced Nurses:

  • Nurses hired directly into a specialty area must provide evidence of current required certifications for the position at the time of hire (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, as applicable to practice area)

Nurses with Float Areas:

  • Nurses who float to areas other than their primary location must complete the required certifications for the highest level specialty in which they will provide care 

High‑Risk Competency:

  • High‑risk competency validation is required for direct patient care nursing roles.  The high-risk competencies are specific to the area of practice (e.g., proficiency in complex medical equipment, procedures, interventions, etc.).   Competency will be assessed before ending initial preceptorship and no less than annually thereafter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Promotes the department(s) and its services into the organization’s primary mission, including any developments and changes to the Postpartum. 2. Coordinates and integrates services within the department(s) and with other departments. 3. Develops, updates, and supports the policies and procedures, in Policy Stat, that guides and support the provision of services. 4. Facilitates orientation, in-service education, training and continuing education for all persons in the department. 5. Reports problems/concerns with staff members to the Postpartum supervisor 6. Participates in monthly staff and charge nurse meetings 7. Evaluate the performance of staff: Nurses and nursing assistants while having the ability to provide ongoing feedback, mentoring, and coaching. 8. Meets with orienteers’ regularly to monitor and help facilitate their progress. 9. Demonstrates an ability to identify and resolve problems. Uses initiative and good judgment to reach quality decisions. 10. Maintains an effective rapport with patients, visitors, physicians, and directors. Licensure as registered nurse in the State of Idaho . Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, BBNC and STABLE certification and renewal as required. Equipment/Technology: Clinical experience in Postpartum required.
