Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Adult Inpatient Mental Health (Adult IP MH) Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks) on the Day/Evening shift. The shift length is 8 hours and work an every other weekend rotation.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Utilizing a systematic process to assess the physical and mental health needs of the patient, which will provide a framework from which patient care is planned [knows disease processes, therapy, complications, expected outcomes for specific patient population(s)]
- Contributing to the development of an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive plan of care.
- Administering medications according to policy used for the management of behavioral patients with knowledge of actions, contraindications, side effects and desired outcomes.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in meeting the identified emotional, psychological, and physical needs, making revisions based on these outcomes.
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
- Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
- Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
- Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
- Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
Required Qualifications
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- 1 year experience
