American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) for an OR position requiring CRNFA certification, Epic familiarity, and prior charge experience in a Level IV trauma center. Job details: - Work across multiple surgical settings including Acute Hospital OR, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Pre/Post Op, Orthopedics, Outpatient Surgery, and Radiology/Ultrasound/Sonography/X-Ray - Facility features 26 operating rooms total, including 12 in the main hospital (one hybrid vascular/cardiac suite), 6 in outpatient Same Day Surgery, 8 in outpatient Orthopedics, plus GI and Pain Management procedure rooms - Specialties covered include Cancer care, Orthopedics, and Cardiac along with Bariatrics, Endo/Laparoscopic, General, Gyn, Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Total Joints, Podiatry, Robotics, and Urology - Schedule options include 4x10-hour shifts (6:30-17:00) or 3x12-hour shifts (6:30-19:00) - Every other weekend required - Call and float required, including float coverage across all surgical units within skill set - On-call policy allows one call shift per pay period with a 60-minute call-back requirement Requirements: - Active CA RN license required at time of consideration - Current BLS and CRNFA certification required; ACLS preferred - Minimum 2 years of RNFA experience required - Previous charge/lead experience required - Epic charting experience preferred but not required - Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not considered - Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred - Proficiency in a wide range of surgical specialties and procedures including Vascular, Gynecology, Orthopedic, Neuro/Spine, General, Urology, and Robotics cases - Skilled in surgical first assist techniques such as suturing, tissue cutting, clamping/cauterizing vessels, and wound dressing - Knowledge of aseptic technique, instrument processing, isolation precautions/PPE, laser safety, and sterilization/disinfection - One professional reference required for consideration Additional information: - Scrubs provided - Level IV trauma center setting with a broad case mix across multiple specialties - Expected to float within skill set across all surgical units on campus - Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted - Former facility employees must have been separated for 2+ years to be eligible for a travel assignment - RTO should not exceed 7 days and must be submitted with the initial profile; no RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment - Travelers must work every other holiday, with preference for coverage on 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve) - Only one contract extension allowed; time off equal to the combined original and extension length is required before returning to this facility as a traveler - Background checks generally allow DUIs unless a pattern is present
