Organization: Med/Surg 1 North Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Assists the nursing staff and patients with basic care needs, implementing orders, and evaluating care for various patients within the facility. Reports directly to the charge nurse and Clinical Director of the unit. This position works in conjunction with other members of nursing service, ancillary services, physicians, patients, and families. It collaborates with various members of the healthcare team to ensure quality of care across the continuum. Requires the ability to be self-directed and quality focused. Interpersonal communication skills are a necessary function of this position. . Document reminders and client responses. Report refusals, missed doses or other concerns. Caregivers must not independently administer medication, change medication instructions or provide medical advice outside their authorized scope. Sleeping, napping, dozing, intentionally lying down to rest, or otherwise becoming unavailable to the client is not permitted. Caregivers may not sleep on the client's couch, recliner, bed, chairs, floor, or other household furniture. Caregivers may not use the client's blankets, pillows, bedding, or other personal belongings for sleeping or personal comfort. Extended personal telephone conversations, social-media use, watching videos, texting, or other personal activities that interfere with client care, supervision, or assigned responsibilities are not acceptable.
