Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Prepare patients for examination, records vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care Phlebotomy Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call backs Perform other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications: Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required. Certificate/License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following programs is preferred (RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA). Current BLS certification is required. Travel required to Metairie, Hammond and Slidell Summary Assists with the delivery of care to patients. Works with patient care team to ensure the efficient flow of patients throughout their visit, providing support to them as well as to the supervising physician. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health records system. Learning about the medical process and using a team approach with patient documentation. Working with a Physician to complete medical records. Communicating with patients and Physicians professionally. Handling all patient calls, refill request, all clinic duties with in timely matter. Helping electronically prescribe medication for patients. Coordinates physicians procedure schedule by scheduling cases appropriately based on surgeon, case length, and day of week.
