Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Position functions as a Medical Assistant in the department of Adult Psychiatry. This position works in close collaboration with the clinic prescribers and assists with the patient care coordination and patient related tasks; furthering our mission of providing health care in a way that best serves our diverse patient population. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Patient Care Duties: Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting along with virtual visits, and completes clinical tasks, which includes obtaining vital signs, and rooming of patients. Assists with care coordination and patient visit prep by performing tasks outlined under the department guidelines, such as calling patients with test results, calling patient to update medications, health history, and social history, scheduling appointments, assisting with return calls; scheduling diagnostic procedures, and admissions; including scheduling of follow-up appointments and procedure appointments. Assists providers with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders and department guidelines. Assists providers with patient messages including MyChart messages, electronic refill requests, and telephone communications, which would include returning phone calls to patients or routing to appropriate personnel. Answers basic questions from patient/family regarding treatments, diagnosis, and procedures. Assists with completion of prior authorization for patient medications. Assists with examinations, procedures, and lab tests. Assists with completion of necessary FMLA/disability paperwork and documentation in a timely manner. May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner (this includes IM and subcutaneous injections).
