Job Description The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), under the direction and supervision of a licensed medical practitioner, provides patient support services, as well as office clerical duties. Medical Assistants coordinate patient care under the tenets of Centra’s Professional Practice model and collaborate with providers and members of the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care, focused on achieving desired outcomes. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider; measures vital signs, and interviews patients to obtain health histories. Under the provider's direction, provides health promotion and counseling to patients and caregivers. Performs patient testing to include specimen collection, CLIA-waved testing, blood collection, and electrocardiogram Serve as a communication liaison for the healthcare team. Assists with patient scheduling and follow up care. Maintains accurate, detailed patient records and charts using an electronic medical record (EMR) system Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with policies and procedures, rules, and regulations. Medical Assistants provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support in an ambulatory setting under the direction or supervision of the patient’s physician or LIP/RN designee in accordance with policy, procedure and competency to promote patient health and wellness.
