The Nursing Assistant functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse or therapist, providing care that does not require the judgment and skills of a licensed professional. After competency verification, the nursing assistant may deliver patient care services to the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The care may include, but is not limited to, the following: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulating, transferring, feeding, observing, and reporting the general well-being of the person(s) to whom they are providing care. Coordinates clerical duties of a diverse and confidential nature to maintain the efficiency of patient care areas. Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request. Responsibilities: Follows nursing assistant plan of care established by the Registered Nurse within a specified timeframe; including, but not limited to, mouth care, bathing, AM and PM care, assistance with ambulation, transfers to chair and/or bed, taking and documenting vital signs, and recording accurate intake and output. Documents all patient care delivered according to established policies and procedures. Performs duties with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned units. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards. Communicate relevant patient information to a professional nurse within an appropriate time based on the level of urgency. Report problems immediately to a professional nurse. Answer intercom or call lights in a timely, courteous manner, with appropriate communication to the patient and/or professional nurse. Performs patient care based on established guidelines for diagnostic and therapeutic exams; i.e., NPO for labs or x-rays, OR, diet changes related to tests, enema-related tests. Perform safety and suicide precaution sitter duties as assigned. Assists other members of the nursing team and/or ancillary departments as requested. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities. Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience: Education: High School Diploma or GED; Must meet one or more of the following criteria: Completion of a Nursing Assistant training course, Medical Assistant training course or Patient Care Technician training course. Completion of a Clinical lab simulation course which included training on vital signs, ADLs etc. Course must be verifiable via official transcript. Active or recent CNA certification in DE or another state. 1 year or more of verifiable work experience in a direct patient care role as a Nursing Asst, Medical Asst, PCT, or Home Health Aide. Job Description Nemours is seeking a Nursing Assistant for 5 West -Hematology Oncology Transplant and Cellular Therapy unit. This is for 60 hour per pay period, 12 hour rotating day nights with weekend and holiday requirements. 5 West is a 24-bed unit has been designated as the Hematology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy and Endocrine unit for the Nemours/ Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children. This step-down unit provides inpatient care for pediatric patients requiring services from the Hematology/ Oncology, Transplant and Cellular Therapy, and Endocrine subspecialties. Admitting diagnoses include but are not limited to leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, neuroblastomas, solid organ malignancies, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, diabetes, and other types of genetic and immune disorders. In addition, stem cell and bone marrow donors are cared for on this unit. The type of patient care provided in this area is complex due to patient diagnosis, the intensity of therapy, the criticality of patient condition, and the extensive patient/family issues that necessitate nursing intervention. This position can flex to all units in the hospital as well to the hematology oncology clinic as needed. Essential Functions Ensuring a clean and safe patient care unit, assisting patients with activities of daily life (bath, feed, play, etc. Collects patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, other per policy), paying close attention to patient safety, comfort, and accuracy of information. Uses Hospital Information Systems as required for patient care, (e.g., documenting vital signs and patient care activities.) Accurately relays information from physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel and others. Transport’s patients and delivers reports, supplies, etc., to other patient units or Institute locations as needed. Ensures an adequate stock of all necessary equipment and supplies in designated areas at established par levels. Courteously and professionally covers patient care unit front desk as needed. Nursing Assistant-5W, Hematology/Oncology (8 shifts/6 weeks)

Job Description Nemours is seeking a Nursing Assistant for 5 West -Hematology Oncology Transplant and Cellular Therapy unit. This is for eight 12-hour shifts in a 6-week schedule, 12 hour rotating shifts with weekend and holiday requirements. 5 West is a 24-bed unit has been designated as the Hematology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy and Endocrine unit for the Nemours/ Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children. This step-down unit provides inpatient care for pediatric patients requiring services from the Hematology/ Oncology, Transplant and Cellular Therapy, and Endocrine subspecialties. Admitting diagnoses include but are not limited to leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, neuroblastomas, solid organ malignancies, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, diabetes, and other types of genetic and immune disorders. In addition, stem cell and bone marrow donors are cared for on this unit. The type of patient care provided in this area is complex due to patient diagnosis, the intensity of therapy, the criticality of patient condition, and the extensive patient/family issues that necessitate nursing intervention. This position can flex to all units in the hospital as well to the hematology oncology clinic as needed. Essential Functions Ensuring a clean and safe patient care unit, assisting patients with activities of daily life (bath, feed, play, etc. Collects patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, other per policy), paying close attention to patient safety, comfort, and accuracy of information. Uses Hospital Information Systems as required for patient care, (e.g., documenting vital signs and patient care activities.) Accurately relays information from physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel and others. Transport’s patients and delivers reports, supplies, etc., to other patient units or Institute locations as needed. Ensures an adequate stock of all necessary equipment and supplies in designated areas at established par levels. Courteously and professionally covers patient care unit front desk as needed. This includes promptly answering telephones, greeting patients, sending reports, distributing, sorting, or processing mail, entering orders, managing medical record, etc. Participates in unit, departmental, and hospital education programs Attends unit meetings regularly as specified in policy. Requirements Able to read and write accurately. Able to understand laboratory orders, computer information, and some medical terminology. Comfortable with obtaining specimens, including blood specimens, from a patient population that is primarily pediatric and often ill, handicapped, or restricted in some way.
