The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) seeks to increase the number of applicants for clinical nursing positions by offering a recruitment incentive to eligible Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant candidates in accordance with the DHSS Recruitment and Referral Incentive Program. The Program Provides Incentives As Follows Recruitment incentives will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and will begin after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. You must be a new employee to the state to be eligible for this incentive. Referral bonuses of $1,000 are available to current DHSS employees who refer new hires to the state in the following classifications: Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant. Referral bonuses of $1,000 will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire of the referred applicant. NOTE: This program is administered by the Department of Health and Social Services. The program may be terminated by the State at any time. Summary Statement The incumbent in this position will provide nursing services including, but not limited to, direct care, assessments, and facilitating health care services to residents in a long-term care facility. In addition, this CNA will have regular contact with individuals, families, nursing staff, physicians, and other departments as needed. The incumbent will be assigned to a Logistics team where they will be responsible for escorting and assisting with the transport of residents to medical appointments on and off campus, ensuring that seats and wheelchair restraints function properly. The incumbent is expected to lift and assist disabled residents in and out of vehicles and other facilities. The position also involves understanding and dealing with the special needs of residents displaying disruptive behaviors. Provides mentoring/orientation for newly hired/less experienced staff ensuring assignments are completed. Leads individual/group therapeutic processes/discussions involving reality orientation, sensory stimulation, range of motion exercise, and application of splints/braces. Participates on interdisciplinary care team providing information about the individual's overall physical condition, abilities, and behavioral characteristics. Ensures aseptic integrity of feeding, catheter, and respiratory tubes/devices while assisting individual with personal hygiene. Monitors/records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, nutritional intake/output. Alerts professional staff to significant physical/behavioral changes/irregularities. Provides oral/written description of individual's physical/behavioral change. Observes client/patient/resident activities, recording/reporting unusual/hazardous behavior. Conducts periodic rounds to ensure safety/well being of clients/patients/residents. Provides written/oral reports to describe unusual incidents. Escorts/is responsible for individuals' traveling to social/recreational activities and medical appointments on/off campus. Applies appropriate interventions to prevent or de-escalate inappropriate behaviors. Job Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS for Certified Nursing Assistant Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Possession of a Delaware certification as a Nursing Assistant or eligibility for a Delaware certification. Conditions of Hire All new hires are required to attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. The session will be held at a designated location in either Kent or New Castle County. A satisfactory criminal background check is required and must be covered by the applicant, with an estimated cost of $85.00. Pre-employment drug testing is also required. Additionally, all new hires are required to complete a 2-Step TB/PPD test, which will be administered on their first day at the facility. This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms. The selected candidate must follow the federal conflict-of-interest requirements under 45 CFR 1321 for all duties related to the Older Americans Act Title III programs. The candidate will be required to complete a Conflict-of-Interest Form to be provided at interview, disclose any actual or potential conflicts, and take part in annual reviews before beginning any Older Americans Act work.
