Job Description Join UChicago Medicine as a Nursing Support Assistant in our Ortho/Uro/Gyn-Onc Surgical Unit. With the leadership of the Manager and the Clinical Supervisor, the Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) performs assigned supportive work in connection with the delivery of patient care, including functional tasks and skills. Performs activities which support the daily functions and operations of a patient care unit and the healthcare team. Provides constant observation and documentation of activity of assigned patient. Works under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the assigned area. Essential Job Functions Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs, enemas and basic tests such as glucoscan, hemacult and multistix Assists patients with activities of daily living, as appropriate/assigned, using proper aseptic, isolation, and infection control techniques in performance of duties Assists patients with personal hygiene, ambulation and nourishment/fluids Completes procedures as assigned, such as collecting patient specimens and weighing patients.
