Overview NaphCare is hiring a Nurses Practitioner to join our team of medical professionals in Santa Cruz County Jail , where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Santa Cruz, CA. Attend sick call with the physician to see inmates/residents; prepare a list of inmates/residents to be examined; prepare examining room and equipment Examine and assess new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries or inmates/residents who become ill or injured; refer inmates/residents to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facilities as required by their condition. Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders. Provide guidance, supervise and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff. Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing. Must possess current licensure in the state of employment. Minimum Qualifications Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 3 years experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care, or similar setting. Current BLS Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Proficiency with electronic health records. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). ACLS certification. Correctional healthcare experience. Clinical educator or preceptor experience. Leadership or charge nurse background. Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP). Physical & Work Requirements Ability to respond rapidly to emergencies, stand and walk throughout the facility, assist patients as required, meet security clearance requirements, and work in a correctional environment. The ability to lift and carry medical equipment up to 50lbs. Must be able to able to push and pull medical carts, and equipment as needed.
