Patient care is delivered by nearly 400 healthcare employees representing a diverse multidisciplinary team of nurses & nurse support staff, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers and other professionals. CHS supports Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation at 3 facilities in Miami-Dade County and leverages the resources of a large public safety net health system in the areas of education, quality, risk management & compliance. Summary Licensed Practical Nurse performs advanced practical nursing work in the care and treatment of physically or mentally ill patients. Employees in this classification perform a variety of nursing care assignments in one or more inpatient or outpatient areas, requiring more advanced knowledge and skills of practical nursing. Emphasis of the work is on performance of specialized as well as more difficult and responsible duties in patient care, giving assistance to physicians and nurses, and performing instructional tasks. Responsibilities Interviews patient about current problems, medications, and allergies and reviews medical record for pertinent previous and current information. Keeps patients informed of their medical condition and the course of treatment being prescribed by an MD. Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse). Establishes and documents patient treatment regimen under supervision of RN or MD and implements treatment as directed.
