Advanced Practice Provider Manager

Job Description The summary purpose of the APP Manager is to provide leadership for the health system and advanced health providers in the development and implementation of ongoing quality improvement through an array of regulatory compliance, policies and programs, funding/funds flow/productivity, training and technical assistance, data and information sharing, and partnerships and collaborations. The APP manager will also provide direct management to the APP within the general surgery department and collaborate with the faculty physicians. The primary managerial responsibility is to provide professional support to the APPs and Lead APPs to ensure alignment with the departments and UCSF Health. The primary clinical responsibility is to provide clinical services to inpatient adult patients. The APP manager will be a practicing clinician and administrator. The incumbent in this position will be 10% clinical, 90% administrative, with the flexibility to limit their clinical practice based on administrative demands. The central responsibility of this role is to serve as a single point of contact, liaison, and expertise for matters specific to practice-oriented APPs, resourcing the APP workforce. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree required in a health care related field from an accredited program. A minimum of 3 years of progressive responsibility related healthcare leadership and/. If Senior Physician Assistant, must have included 3 years of progressive responsibility related healthcare leadership Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and to manage the complex workflow and competing priorities involved with providing quality care as an Advanced Practitioner. Indepth knowledge of patient care clinical standards, systems, external regulations and internal policies. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and problem solving with all levels of management and staff. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals. Preferred Doctorate prepared Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs. Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters. Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise clinicians, manage complex workflow and multiple priorities. Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies. Demonstrated ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document APP performance. Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and data management systems used in clinics / clinical departments. Perkins Hospital Center (CTPHC) by providing executive leadership, strategic oversight, and system-wide coordination of the hospital’s Quality, Safety, and Performance Improvement infrastructure. This position ensures that quality assurance, performance improvement, risk management, patient safety, and environment of care programs are effectively integrated across all service lines in alignment with federal, state, and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission and OHCQ). This position champions a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning, ensuring that care delivery systems within CTPHC uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient rights, and patient safety. This position develops, implements, and monitors data-driven quality initiatives to reduce risk, improve patient outcomes, and advance the hospital’s journey toward high reliability and zero harm. Key areas of accountability include: Oversight and coordination of Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Patient Safety, and Environment of Care programs. Patients found on this unit are often admitted for acute exacerbations of complex chronic conditions with a focus on pulmonary, gastrointestinal, sickle cell, renal failure, medical-psychological, and endocrine conditions. In addition, patients are admitted for diagnostic work-up and treatment of new-onset infectious disease processes. Continuous video camera monitoring and cardiac telemetry are also available, if needed, to provide comprehensive, safe patient care. Collaboration between our physician colleagues (teaching services and attending services) and multidisciplinary teams contributes to the high functioning teamwork found on this unit. Responsibilities Perform complete, detailed, and accurate health histories, review patient records, develop comprehensive medical assessments, and order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for complaint, race, sex, and physical condition of the patient Formulate medical and nursing diagnoses and institute therapy or referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, and other resources of the community or physician Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, convulsions, poisoning, and allergic reactions Interpret and analyze patient data to determine patient status, patient management and treatment Provide instructions and guidance regarding health care and health care promotion to patients/family/ significant others Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Excellent communicator with staff, patients, and family Professional appearance and attitude ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA Board Certified – (with 1 yr ER/UC experience preferred) Active and current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of practice, DEA number, and state-controlled substance certificate, as required Able to multi-task and work independently Company Overview American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S., providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis.
