Patient population serviced includes both adolescents and adults. Patients are hospitalized for a broad variety of psychiatric disorders, including mood, anxiety, and thought disorders. Patients may also require treatment in specialty programming for trauma, eating disorders, and dual diagnosis (both substance abuse and psychiatric issues). This position actively supports, promotes and works to fulfill the Mission, Vision and Values of Forest View Hospital using our Service Excellence program. This is a Fulltime, 36 hours a week position (12 Hour Shifts- 7:00pm-7:30am or 7:00am-7:30pm). Essential Job Responsibilities: Promotes a warm and welcoming environment when paired with newly hired RNs, providing training, guidance, and support that is consistent with patient care, safety standards, and policy and procedure. General Purpose of Job : The RN Staff Nurse is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment / instrumentation, and other health care team members. Previous experience in specialty preferred. Essential Duties : ASSESSMENT—Assess the patient's condition and physical, psychological, cognitive, social, rehabilitative, and discharge needs. PLANNING—Develop a plan of care using nursing diagnoses and setting patient outcome goals. IMPLEMENTATION—Implement nursing plan of care and physician's orders. IMPLEMENTATION—Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies. IMPLEMENTATION—Perform nursing procedures, assist physicians, and use equipment following established standards. EVALUATION—Evaluate the patient’s response to nursing interventions and physician ordered therapy / diagnostics. Update or modify plan of care to meet the current needs of the patient. PATIENT EDUCATION—Educate the patient and significant others based on the cognitive needs of each and defined by patient outcome goals. DOCUMENTATION—Document concise, accurate and timely information in the patient care record. PATIENT/FAMILY RIGHTS—Demonstrate knowledge of and respect for patient and significant others’ rights, including confidentiality. SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT—Follow established standards in provision for safety. LEGAL ISSUES—Demonstrate awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and department function and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. We are excited to be offering a Weekend Only Program for RNs! Eligibility: RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included. 0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend and one additional shift during the week. Compensation: RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay. If the RN is a full-time (3)12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes. Scheduling: RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours ‘off’ of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.
