JOB SUMMARY Provides residents with daily nursing care in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies and as may be directed by the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing or Administrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. SUPPORT DUTIES Commit to continued growth as a knowledgeable and experienced healthcare provider in the area of post-acute care, custodial care, and Alzheimer’s dementia and other diseases that cause dementia. Commit to obtaining at least 12 hours of continual education annually for self, including the required 16 hours of orientation training and any other ongoing dementia care specific trainings for direct care staff working on a memory care unit. Become knowledgeable of each individual resident’s background, life history, disease, medical and behavioral care needs, and preferences in detail. Utilize any communication devices for residents, such as language services, communication boards, assistive devices, etc. Accept education for utilizing these mechanisms to provide ample communication. Assist in providing a therapeutic, person-centered care that constantly strives to enhance the quality of life of each resident. Encourage family involvement through volunteering and visitation. Provide a clean, safe, non-hazardous unit for the residents and staff. Assist in providing an individualized symptom management tracking system as needed per resident, including development and maintenance of individualized, non-pharmacological interventions implemented. Complete all required documentation. Maintain all program policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Provide feedback to nurses for monitoring achievement of restorative goals through a team approach. Be flexible to meet the change in residents’ needs. Provide emotional, caring support to residents, families, and the inter-disciplinary team. Perform other duties as assigned. Here, you will be involved in process improvement or quality initiatives related to, but outside of, Perioperative Services. You will assist the nursing and medical staff in providing care to patients undergoing surgical intervention and performing surgical scrub technologist duties; collaborate with nursing and other disciplines, when necessary, to revise the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient, having constant contact with the Operating Room staff, physicians, clerical staff, anesthesia staff, and materials management. This is the Center for Care and Discovery OR department. This position is 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. Essential Job Functions Independently performs the surgical scrub role in the operative field and can scrub in all services, including adult and pediatric. Applies knowledge related to emergencies and trauma situations and surgical procedures in the operating room. Demonstrates infection control practices by utilizing proper aseptic techniques while dealing with blood/body fluid. Correctly uses all sterilizers and high-level disinfectors related to surgical procedures; documents appropriately and maintains competencies, as required. In conjunction with the Specialty Manager, Charge Nurse, and Central Sterile Processing, demonstrates organizational skills in case preparation, case cart picking, and accurate room set-up for instrument and tray contents in scheduled cases. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record TPR’s, blood pressures, accuchecks, etc., as necessary. Contact the customer’s physician for: Nursing assessment of change of condition. Medication orders or charges. To inform of incidents. To report abnormal results of Lab and X-ray. Anything else pertinent to the customers’ care and well-being. Ensure the nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and is being followed. Attend staff meetings, etc., as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
