Our unit operates on an acute crisis stabilization model, ensuring that patients receive the urgent care they need to regain stability and well-being. Our multidisciplinary team approach brings together a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and Acute Care Technicians (ACTs). Our collaborative effort ensures that each patient receives personalized and holistic care tailored to their unique needs. We have a dedicated 10 bed geriatric space that focuses on dementia and patients with cognitive impairment. We have 28 other beds for adults experiencing depression and other mental illnesses. Patients on our unit typically stay for an average of 5-7 days, during which they benefit from the expertise and support of our dedicated team. Our staffing model is designed to provide optimal care around the clock, with RNs, LPNs, ACTs, therapists, and social workers. We are available during day, evening, and night shifts. We offer twelve-hour shifts, with a twelve-hour shift every third weekend and a weekend option for those who prefer it. We typically maintain an a verage patient-to-staff ratio of 1:5 . While we prefer nurses with psychiatric/behavioral health experience, we warmly welcome new graduates who are eager to learn and grow in a supportive environment. Job Description UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Surgical Oncology unit for the Day Shift at the UC Medical Center. The Surgical Oncology nurse will support the Medical Center’s 24-bed Surgical Oncology unit and Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. UCMC is at the forefront in treating patients with pancreatic and liver diseases and is one of two centers that offer autologous islet cell transplantation for the treatment of chronic pancreatitis. 9CCP cares for these patients following ICU until discharge and when patients are readmitted with pain or infection issues. The unit also cares for acute care surgery, thoracic, gynecology/oncology, vascular and colorectal patients. Most of the patients at 9CCP are cared for under the direction of a surgeon. Most patients are admitted from PACU, ICU, ER or directly from their home. Within the unit, there are 12 labor and delivery beds, 4 high-risk beds, 3 post-op recovery beds, 3 surgical suites and a 4-bed triage unit. Patients are triaged, admitted, stabilized, delivered or transferred to a level III facility as appropriate. Post Partum: The Postpartum unit is responsible for the post-delivery care of mothers and their infants, low risk antepartum and clean gyn surgeries. Staff on this unit assist with breastfeeding and education while monitoring the healing and recuperation of new mothers. Staff on this unit are also responsible for maintaining the health of the mother and baby while monitoring any complications that arise during the postpartum period and ensure that mothers have a smooth transition from hospital to home. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): The level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a new 15-bed unit. The NICU can care for very preterm, 28 weeks' gestation, to term infants that require additional support. The range of medical conditions include but are not limited to respiratory support, feeding assistance, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, glucose instability, and antibiotic therapy. NICU RNs attend all high-risk deliveries and assist with initial assessments as needed. Staff RNs provide evidence-based care and place special emphasis on skin-to-skin, breastfeeding, and safe sleep practices. Liberty Birthing Center: The Liberty Birthing Center is a 9-bed LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum all in one room) unit and includes a level II special care nursery with 4 private beds and 2 open beds. There is a 4-bed triage/post-partum area as well. This unit is also equipped with 2 ORs that include a family viewing room. The Christ Hospital Medical Center at Liberty Township is a newer facility with a strong emphasis on patient and family-centered care. This unit has several amenities to offer patients and receives high patient satisfaction scores. A 24-hour laborist physician and a 24-hour NNP are in-house to cover any patient needs on the unit. there is also 24-hour anesthesia coverage in cases where an epidural or c-section are needed. Job Responsibilities Delivering post-acute care as an LPN Monitoring the physical and mental wellbeing of residents and tracking their vital signs Performing intakes of residents and documenting their health concerns and medical histories Reviewing the medical records and charts of residents Properly administering (and verifying) medications Helping to maintain appropriate levels of medical supplies Contributing to a safe, comfortable environment for residents Assisting with IV set up, vaccinations, and phlebotomies Being accountable to follow and adhere to care plans for residents Helping medical staff with orientation and training Qualifications and Skills Current Ohio state license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Completion of approved Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) educational program High school graduation, GED, or equivalent At least 6 months of experience ( LPN or similar role) Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs Ready to Advance Your Career — and Live a Balanced Life?
