Department Overview Our neonatal program is the largest in the Midwest. We provide the full scope of care for infants needing intensive care. At the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis Campus, our inter-disciplinary team of over 500 professionals is dedicated to the care of babies with life-changing diagnoses. We specialize in caring for infants needing level III and level IV intensive care, including babies born prematurely or with birth defects, congenital heart disease, genetic disorders or medical disorders; babies who need extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO); babies needing body cooling, and any baby needing surgery. We care for babies requiring complex care, such as hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. We are part of the Mother Baby Center in Minneapolis at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, which includes a large high-risk delivery service, a fetal surgery program and a perinatal clinic. The Children’s Minneapolis NICU is a 44-bed level III and level IV unit, and is supported by a step-down level II infant care center and special care nursery. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. Position Summary Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members. Education Requirements: * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. * Current Minnesota RN licensure. * Current BLS certification. * One (1) year nursing experience in a hospital setting. Neonatal experience preferred. * Based upon the unit in which you are applying, additional certification(s) may be required. Bonus: Full-Time $7,500 (Registered Nurse) $5,000 (Licensed Practical Nurse) Part-Time $5,000 (Registered Nurse) $2,500 (Licensed Practical Nurse) Location: 625 W 31st Street, Minneapolis, MN 55408 Nurse (RN or LPN) Responsibilities: Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care plans for residents. Recognizes and manages common geriatric syndromes common to aging adults: cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, neurological, sensory and pain problems. Supervises work performed by LPNs, TMAs, and Nursing Aides Displays a courteous attitude and respect for all residents, families, and staff. Works to coordinate, oversee, and provide resident-related care. Administers medications and/or treatments in accordance with physician's orders and monitors for effectiveness/response. Manages medications, supplies, and equipment including ordering, receiving, storing, and disposing of all items in accordance with policies and procedures. Documents care using computerized medication administration and charting software. Notifies Clinical Manager, attending physicians, and family members of significant changes in a resident's condition, and takes follow up action as necessary. Monitors nursing personnel on duty during the assigned shift. Nurse (RN or LPN) Qualifications: Current Minnesota Registered Nurse license required. CPR certified preferred or willing to get Experience in Long Term Care preferred. Must have strong communication and organizational skills. Self-starter with a desire to be a part of a team.
