Denton’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) 16-bed NICU with all private rooms 23-week gestation on up – working with preemies and multiples 24-bed Postpartum/Newborn, Couplet care The deliveries average between 200-225 deliveries per month. NicView web cameras Here’s What You Need Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire STABLE Program within 6 Months of hire NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days 1 year Experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program At least 1 year of NICU experience preferred What You Will Do Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process Assesses the patient Plans the care of the patient Intervenes as appropriate Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers. Nursing Process: Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults and Geriatrics. Preoperatively assists RN circulator in formulating plan of care. Professional accountability: Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties. Infection Prevention: Assists in the delivery of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination. Safety: Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury. Continuous Improvement: Care is provided with an emphasis on continually improving quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
