Answers patient inquiries with respect to medical questions within the scope of practice and practice policy. 9. Takes calls from the pharmacist. Calls or electronically submits prescriptions and prescription refills to pharmacy as directed by the provider. 10. Coordinates diagnostic and laboratory services for patients on an outpatient basis such as PT, MRIs, Bone Scans, CTs, etc. and completes proper paperwork. 11. Assists provider in examination and surgical or diagnostic procedures and treatment, as well as preps patients. 12. Marks superbill or documents EHR for any procedures and injections performed and any supplies used. 13. Makes arrangements with proper agencies for administration of patient home health care as directed by provider. 14. Coordinates provider referrals to other providers and relays proper information about the patient. 15. Maintains all clinical equipment to include sterilizing, as applicable. Evaluates all equipment for damage or maintenance needs, and reports information to the Practice Manager. 16. Checks clinical supplies and initiates the ordering process. 17. Via electronic, paper or other forms of receipt reviews and completes clinical mail for the provider when appropriate/authorized. 18. Prepares patient insurance forms completely prior to giving to provider for review and signature.

Meets the communication needs of the patient / family and medical provider. Maintains and follows regulatory requirement and policies and procedures. Communicates with medical providers and staff about patient’s clinical condition. 
This is a general job description, and not necessarily an extensive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the position. Essential Job Functions 1. Places the patients in the examination room. Takes histories and physical exam information. Obtains vital signs, ascertains patient complaint or reason for visit and enters the information into the patient’s record. Checks the patient record to insure all required information has been obtained and completed. 2. Completes disability status sheet and fax to proper places, as requested. 3. Writes school/work excuses and provider orders, and has provider sign. 4. Prior to patient visit, performs the following: a. Ensures that all equipment in exam room is clean and properly set up. b. Ensures supplies are adequate. 5. Cleans and restocks examination rooms for the day’s use. Reviews patient records, x-rays, and test results for the day’s visit and prepares necessary paperwork. 6. Accompanies the provider while seeing patients, when appropriate. 7. Screens telephone calls for the provider, and takes clinical messages, as appropriate. 8. Answers patient inquiries with respect to medical questions within the scope of practice and practice policy. 9. Takes calls from the pharmacist. Calls or electronically submits prescriptions and prescription refills to pharmacy as directed by the provider. 10. Coordinates diagnostic and laboratory services for patients on an outpatient basis such as PT, MRIs, Bone Scans, CTs, etc. and completes proper paperwork. 11. Assists provider in examination and surgical or diagnostic procedures and treatment, as well as preps patients. 12. Marks superbill or documents EHR for any procedures and injections performed and any supplies used. 13. Makes arrangements with proper agencies for administration of patient home health care as directed by provider. 14. Coordinates provider referrals to other providers and relays proper information about the patient. 15. Maintains all clinical equipment to include sterilizing, as applicable. Evaluates all equipment for damage or maintenance needs, and reports information to the Practice Manager. 16. Checks clinical supplies and initiates the ordering process. 17. Via electronic, paper or other forms of receipt reviews and completes clinical mail for the provider when appropriate/authorized. 18. Prepares patient insurance forms completely prior to giving to provider for review and signature. 
To act as a primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment utilized for surgical procedures. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure. Has an understanding of the procedures being performed and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. adheres to departmental and AORN standards; Human Resource, hospital-wide, and departmental policies and procedures. Continuously monitors the quality of care delivered to our patients to promote efficacy, appropriateness, availability, timelines, effectiveness, continuity, safety, efficiency, and respect and caring. • Provides a safe environment. • Demonstrates use and troubleshooting of equipment. • Ability to take directions from RN. • Provides health care at the best value without compromising patient care. • Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and physiology/medical terminology for proper case preparation. • Secures equipment and supplies based on patient's needs. • Performs accurate sponge, sharp, and instrument counts consistent with policy and procedure. • Creates, maintains, and monitors and sterile field. • Constantly maintains an orderly instrument table/mayo and passes instruments and equipment as necessary to facilitate, without interruption. • Adheres to departmental policy and procedure and AORN standards in scrubbing, gowning, gloving, draping, and aseptic technique. • Applies proper principles of prepping patient for procedure. • Immediately removes/reports equipment/instruments that are broken or not safe for patient use., • Precepts/orients new personal and students. • Accepts and labels medications onto the sterile field according to policy. • Provides age specific care. • Regularly attends departmental meetings, asks questions, and remains informed. • Maintains open communication with physicians, peers, and leadership. • Actively assists and supports performance improvement activities. Under general supervision, demonstrates proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, contributes to the nursing assessment and the development of the nursing care plan, and participates in the evaluation of nursing care, in accordance with established philosophy.
