Job Description: The Triage Nurse conducts initial assessments to evaluate how urgently a patient needs care. They ask questions, check vital signs and coordinate care with other medical professionals, such as nurses and physicians. Duties & Responsibilities: The primary focus of a Triage Nurse is to ensure that the patients who are most in need of care receive it first and that other members of the care team are ready to begin treatments as quickly as possible. They perform many duties, including: Interviewing patients to gather information about their medical history and current symptoms Checking patient height, weight, blood pressure and temperature Collecting urine samples, throat cultures and other samples as needed to expedite care Assigning a triage priority based on the findings of the interview and exam Communicating with physicians, nurses and other members of the care team about patients’ statuses Updating patient health information systems with notes Staying up to date on advancements in emergency medicine and urgent care best practices Adhering to standards for infection control, sanitation and patient safety and confidentiality Education & Experience: Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing LPN or RN Experience: 1 – 3 years of professional nursing experience preferred Other Requirements: Current state registered nursing license Current CPR certificate (BLS) Current appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field

About the Role: Job Summary The Nurse Manager (NM) functions as the first-line administrative nurse leader with primary responsibility for overseeing daily patient care operations and budget with 24-hour accountability for care delivery of assigned unit(s). The Nurse Manager must be able to navigate proficiently within the electronic health record and other technological systems, and he/she is required to frequently apply a set of management principles to ensure smooth operations of the department. The Nurse Manager must be capable of independent judgement and decision-making in the areas of budget, personnel, patient services, physician relations, and administrative or professional programs. He/she must be able to clinically assist with patient care and be able to function in the charge role if needed. The Nurse Manager coordinates, evaluates and resolves problems and conflicts as they occur. With support from Charge Nurses, educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and other nursing support personnel, the Nurse Manager directly supervises the clinical nursing and ancillary personnel assigned to his/her respective unit(s). He/she ensures and is accountable for the effective daily operation of the nursing unit on 24/7 basis by monitoring all activities necessary to provide consistent high quality patient care, including staffing, equipment, supplies, and services. The Nurse Manager has knowledge of and adheres to the policies, procedures, and regulations that govern nursing practice and must exercise sound, independent judgment in adapting and applying leadership and clinical principles to specific situations as needed. The Nurse Manager relies on experience, judgment, and collaboration with other nurse leaders to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, the Nurse Manager assists in the advancement of the professional practice environment by communicating the NGHS nursing strategic direction and focuses on activities that support the nursing strategic plan. The Nurse Manager ensures nursing involvement and support for the Professional Nursing Governance structure, including a vibrant Unit Practice Council. The Nurse Manager develops and submits to Director/Executive Director/CNO appropriate capital and operating budgets for approval and is accountable for the achievement of capital and operating budget objectives within areas of responsibility. In conjunction with the Human Resources Department, the Nurse Manager determines human resource needs and develops or assists in the development of programs to maintain and improve the quality and efficiency of the assigned department. He/she recruits, hires, orients, and evaluates performance of all assigned personnel to assure the department is staffed with team members who reflect behaviors and performance consistent with the hospital's mission, vision, and values. The Nurse Manager has the authority to hire, terminate and/or take other disciplinary action as may be deemed appropriate in accordance with hospital policy. He/she develops and administers a master staffing plan for assigned areas in conjunction with approved budget. The Nurse Manager identifies educational and training needs of departmental staff or individual(s) impacting assigned functions and plans with other appropriate staff members for the implementation of training needs. Review protocol for potential operational issues and make recommendations, as needed. Create informed consents. Submit protocol, informed consents and necessary documents to Institutional Review Board (IRB) for approvals; communicate with IRB on a regular schedule if applicable. Attend IRB meetings for protocol review, as needed. Confirm that all regulatory documents are submitted to sponsor in a timely manner, e.g., 1572, Confidentiality Agreement, clinical trial agreements, IRB approval letter, Financial Disclosures, etc., as needed. Ensure staff resumes and licenses are current. Communicate with Research Manager regarding study initiation needs. Identify needed storage space for study product. Develop study specific materials, e.g., tracking logs, templates, monitoring tools, source documents, study binders, process manuals. Study Execution: Screen potential subjects for enrollment. Explain protocol and informed consents to subject and obtain informed consents for subject participation. Oversee patient enrollment and follow-up. Be available for study “call” if needed. Maintain strong working knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FDA regulations, and International Conference on Harmonization/Good Clinical Practice (ICH/GCP) guidelines. Complete Case Report Forms (CRFs) and study related documents, submit documents to sponsor and/or IRB, if applicable. Ensure sponsor required documents are completed, e.g., screening logs, Adverse event (A/E) forms, memo to file, etc. Plan, organize, and participate in site initiation visits and continued monitoring visits. Review the monitoring reports with the Research Manager. Ensure studies are completed on time and within budget. Communicate with outside vendors such as central laboratories, central IRBs, etc. Provide guidance and troubleshoot issues. Proactively address study concerns and develop timely resolutions. Analyze and/or report safety issues, patients care issues, and study design and/or study conduct issues. Ensure that Adverse Events (AE) and Serious Adverse Events (SAE) procedures are followed accurately and within federal regulations and sponsor guidelines. Prepare study reports, e.g., modification, amendments, Investigational New Drug (IND) reports, etc. Perform yearly review of studies, completing yearly documents required by sponsor, IRB and FDA. Review case report forms. Audit regulatory binders. Ensure timely and accurate communication with the sponsor, among research staff, and with the multiple functional areas with Institution, e.g., via regularly scheduled calls, team meetings, etc. Complete status reports and communicate with the sponsor, research staff, Research Manager and Investigator(s). Work with the key functional departments to coordinate the project-related activities to meet project goals and milestones, based on the study design. Ensure study data is submitted on-time to data management for analyses. Ensure the statistical analysis plan is complete, if applicable. Ensure information is available for final study report completion. Communicate with Research Manager regarding resource needs and issues, e.g., supplies, equipment, etc. Study Completion. Complete study close out procedures. Submit closeout documents to sponsor and IRB. Compose year end status report for Research Manager and research staff. Return study product, if applicable.
