Responsibility also includes coordinating the process of vascular access line placements, communication with primary care nurses and providing education for care and maintenance of vascular access devices. The Vascular Access Nurse directs the access process and team members, establishing a positive and professional rapport with other departments and staff, focusing on the provision of individualized quality patient care consistent with organizational standards and goals. Responsibilities · Manages and coordinates the care of patients in a defined care delivery model for the placement of vascular access lines, utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Participates in the patient plan of care based on identified patient needs in conjunction with the procedure treatment plan. · Assesses and prioritizes patient care based on patient needs. · Completes patient assessment and reassessment following the hospital policy. · Verifies patient ID and Procedural Consent ensuring that it is in accordance with the physician order, and Site/Side is validated per procedure. · Inspects patient's skin for rashes, bruises, lesions and old incisions, prosthesis, and implants and assesses patient’s range of motion. · Verifies history and physical. · Questions patient about diseases, injuries, allergies, NPO status, previous procedures/surgery and anesthetic and/or medication & contrast reactions, and documenting prior to procedure. · Provides a safe environment and promotes quality patient care through adherence to established care standards. · Evaluates appropriate intravenous catheter /device to support optimal patient outcomes. · Assesses the appropriateness for and demonstrates competency in placing Vascular Access Lines using a bedside Ultrasound Machine. Qualifications EDUCATION: Education recognized by the State of Florida as qualification for Registered Nurse licensure. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in placing venous access devices. Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred. Experience placing PICC lines preferred. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION: PICC LINE certification required. Registration and current RN state license, BLS. Position Summary: Delivers professional and technical Nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, undergoing endoscopic procedures for a variety of gastrointestinal conditions as well as assisting in Pulmonary Bronchoscopies. Moderate sedation provided when required in procedures. Nursing care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital and utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams members to provide age/developmentally in accordance with unit standards. Prepares and maintains expensive, fragile equipment. Assists physician during procedures and documentation of the procedures by the Registered Nurse. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Assists in planning, supervising and instructing Endoscopy technicians to assist with procedures and the cleaning of the scopes. Interacts closely with the physicians and ensures has all of the needed equipment for the case. Required to be on-call for emergency cases. Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities) Basic Arrhythmia course Minimum of two (2) years experience in acute care facility, experience with endoscopic procedures preferred. Advanced physical assessment skills. Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition. Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language. Knowledge of computer systems.
