Performs assigned treatments (e.g., R.O.M., Dayroom Monitoring, Courtesy Cart). Communicates effectively with Charge Nurse/Primary Nurse regarding patients’ needs and requests. Orients patient to environment and develops rapport with patients, family and significant others. B. PATIENT CARE RELATED DUTIES Keeps patient unit and non-patient unit clean (e.g., wipes tables, neatens storage rooms, pantries and other areas). Prepares bedside units for new admissions (e.g., stocks with bedpan, tissues, water, cups). Apply principles of infection control and safety in the work environment. Reports significant unit problems to charge nurse. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Promotes adherence to the Patient's Bill of Rights. Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations. Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements. Other Duties : Attends the required 12 hours of in-service education class per year including resident rights, advance directives, and abuse & prevention. Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy. Participates in orientation of nursing assistants. Participates in unit committees and in CQI activities as assigned Assists other personnel as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization. Position Qualifications: Maintains Nurse’s Aide Certification. Heartsaver Certification required. 1 year of experience as a Nurse's Aide preferred. Technical skills required for patient care. Good oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Must pass Nursing Attendant test administered by BNBMC Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position. Education: Successful completion of an approved Nurse’s Aide training course required. High school graduation or equivalent preferred. Salary commensurate with experience within posted range. Position Summary To fulfill the needs of patients in a variety of age groups, their family members, and the community by performing varied patient care tasks and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. Education Bachelor`s degree in Nursing required. Current/valid State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing). Completion of general nursing orientation, CPR certification and unit-based orientation. Experience Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in a similar role or related field is required. Computer and keyboard skills. Medical terminology required. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination are also required as is constant talking and listening in English. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity, understanding the information relayed, deductive and inductive reasoning skills (the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense and the ability to combine pieces of information to/from general rules or conclusion respectively). Considerable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying required. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing needs of patients with acute, chronic and complex and/or terminal disease processes. Ability to work cooperatively within health system, multidisciplinary team members (i.e. MD's, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Laboratory, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management skills to set priorities to perform responsibilities, problem solve and deliver care. Assists or reminds the patient to take medication, in compliance with regulations of appropriate regulatory and accrediting bodies.
