The LPN provides patient information to the health care team that influences the planning, provision, and evaluation of patient care. LPNs provide compassionate care that is respectful of each patient's needs, values and wishes. Under the direction of the RN or LIP, the LPN administers medications and vaccinations, observes, measures, records, and reports clinical data relating to a patient's health status. LPNs perform a variety of clinical procedures, such as urinary catheterization, tracheal suctioning, and sterile dressing changes with verified training and competency documentation. LPNs provide emotional support and educational material to patients and their families.
