The program is a funded by the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Opioid State Targeted Response (STR) grant that was awarded to Washington State in the effort to better address the current opioid use epidemic. To be considered for the role, please apply at the following link: Position Details - Academic Personnel & Faculty The University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking an ARNP/PA for full-time (1.0) at the rank of Teaching Associate. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The ARNP/PA is a member of the inter-professional gastroenterology and hepatology team that includes attending physicians, gastroenterology and hepatology trainees, multidisciplinary specialists (social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, psychiatrists) , other physician assistants, and nurse practitioners providing care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver disease in the inpatient and outpatient settings. A successful applicant will provide care independently and collaboratively with other team members. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The positions will provide clinical services at the UWMC-Montlake with a focus in Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology. Duties will include providing hepatology consultative services for outpatients including General Hepatology, Transplant Hepatology and Liver Tumor clinics. The hepatology team includes attending physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, as well as clinic staff including nurses and medical assistants. Estimated start date of October 1, 2026. The base salary range for this position will be: $10,833 - $15,417 per month ($129,996 - $185,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month service period [July 1-June 30]. The base salary range for this position will be $10,834- $13,334 per month ($130,008 - $160,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. The APP will provide consultative specialty diabetes care to patients in coordination with Endocrinologists, certified diabetes educators, and ancillary support staff at the University of Washington Medicine Diabetes Institute (UWMDI). The APP is responsible for providing patient care independently and collaboratively with appropriate privileges, including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient’s medical, physical and psychosocial status. Provide timely initial and ongoing patient assessment for diabetes management. Participate in the assessment, planning, care implementation and evaluation of the hyperglycemic patient requiring urgent outpatient care. Participate in the assessment, planning, care implementation, and evaluation of established patients in the UWMDI. Attend UWMDI Service meetings with UWMDI faculty and support staff. Collaborate with the UWMDI supervising physician, the UWMDI certified diabetes RN’s, the UWMDI certified diabetes educator RD’s, the UWMDI PharmD’s, and other providers to ensure coordination and continuity of diabetes care across settings and over time. Attend appropriate clinical meetings to serve as a resource for staff and providers. Facilitate collaboration with referring care providers to ensure continuity of care. Provide patient and/or family with health education, counseling and referrals to other health professionals and community resources as appropriate. Participate as a key member of the interdisciplinary team through the development of collaborative and innovative practices and evaluation of patient care outcomes. Evaluate quality outcomes for the UWMDI through participation in the development of quality indicators. The UWMDI APP provides clinical consultation in all the domains of Glycemic Control Consult Service. Patient/family/provider communication about disease and treatment and how it relates to patient values, priorities, and goals of care across the spectrum of care. Articulate recommendations to colleagues with appropriate and specific language in accordance with current standards of practice, develops individualized goals in accordance with shared outcomes by the primary service. The UWMDI APP collaborates with the primary team. Make individualized Glycemic Control Consult Service recommendations Contribute to the plan of care. Prescribes medications in accordance with the primary service. Order diagnostics/treatments as needed after collaboration with the primary team. Promote a collaborative approach to decision making. Participate in discharge planning meetings to identify and propose solutions for barriers to discharge. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service. Qualifications Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications: Current and valid Washington state ARNP or PA Licensure. Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or PA-C Program or foreign equivalent.
