Job Summary: The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in a School of Nursing and who has successfully completed two Clinical Nursing courses. When on duty, he/she assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic patient care which is designed to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of the patient. The Nurse Extern may also be cross trained to perform unit Secretary clerical duties. The nurse Extern may perform nursing practice interventions which have been learned within his/her clinical training and which have been successfully validated by an RN staff member. Qualifications/Requirements Education Completion of second Clinical Nursing course within an accredited school of Nursing Program. The Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) is an essential member of the perioperative team responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse and in collaboration with surgeons and other members of the surgical team, the Surgical Technologist prepares the operating room, establishes and maintains the sterile field, organizes surgical instruments and supplies, and provides direct technical assistance throughout operative procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, knowledgeable in sterile and aseptic technique, and able to anticipate the needs of the surgical team in a fast-paced hospital environment. Minimum Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited or recognized Surgical Technology program preferred. Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Recognizes need for physician consultation and guidance as indicated within experience and scope of practice Acts as a preceptor for APP students #APP #DOX Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements Master's degree in nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) APRN Licensure issued by the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Board (AANPCB), or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment American Heart Association PALS required for Inpatient APPs Level II Background Check - if required for this position or department Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required for PICU, CICU and Neurocritical Care Units Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification preferred Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
