Description Job Title - Program Director (Licensed Nurse Practitioner) Solid Tumor Research Nursing - Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time - Day The Program Director for Solid Tumor Research Nursing is a credentialed individual responsible for daily operations of all solid tumor research nursing teams and related clinical services for the Tisch Cancer Center of the Mount Sinai Health System. This person must have expert knowledge of cancer as a disease process, cancer treatment modalities, and the process of conducting clinical research. She/he is responsible for clinical operations and integrity, compliance, and knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and institutional policies and procedures. She/he is also expected to function as a research NP in her/his designated disease area. This position administratively reports to the Senior Director for Cancer Clinical Research and clinically reports to the Associate Director of Clinical Research Operations. Responsibilities Oversees day-to-day management of the solid tumor clinical research nursing teams. Ensures integration of other areas as they relate to clinical services, including but not limited to Finance, Legal Affairs, Contracts, Compliance, IT, Facilities, and Human Resources/Labor Relations, etc. Supervises licensed staff to ensure protocol compliance, accurate data collection, sample acquisition, and all nursing related study conduct. Description RN/Case Manager MSH Case Management PT Weekdays/Weekends/Holidays he Case Manager (CM) will be responsible for all aspects of case management for an assigned group of patients to determine the appropriateness of the Level of Care, assist in the development of the plan of care; ensure that the plan is implemented in a timely basis and identify the expected length of stay (ELOS). The CM works collaboratively with physicians, social workers, clinical nurses, home care services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed. Assignment will be by units/clinical areas of practice and may require responsibility on other units/services Responsibilities 1. Principle Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a. Reviews all new admissions to identify patients where utilization review, discharge planning, and/or case management will be needed using standardized criteria to achieve optimal patient outcomes and appropriate reimbursement for the organization. b. Performs continued stay reviews utilizing standardized criteria to justify continued inpatient stay. c. Collaborates with Physician and other clinicians to expedite diagnostic testing, treatment and consultations. d. Documents all clinical reviews in Case Management Documentation system. e. Assessment of the patients clinical, psychosocial, and functional status in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. b. Maintains a working knowledge of the UR (Utilization Review) requirements of each payor within the patient population; b. Provides the clinical information requested by the managed care companies as part of the concurrent review in a timely fashion. c. Provides clinical information requested by the managed care companies in accordance with contractual agreements. d. Works collaboratively with physicians and managed care companies on concurrent denial appeals e. Communicates clinical information to the payor, as needed, coordinating direct communication between physician and payor Medical Director as required. f. In psychiatry, the CM will document UR notes in the medical record as per OMH guidelines. 4. Discharge Planning: a. Responsible for assessment, communication and monitoring of discharge planning process (The clinical nurse initiates the discharge planning process on admission). b. Assesses for clinical readiness and completes the Hospital and Community Patient Review Instrument (PRI) for patients requiring Residential Health Care Facility placement. d. Description The Offsite Medical Assistant I Provides clinical office support to Physicians & Surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. Responsibilities 1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. Assists physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information. 2. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Completing forms and requisitions as needed, managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. These responsibilities may be carried out using the electronic medical record (EMR) system or manually as necessary. 3. Enters orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepares prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician. 4. Inventories, orders or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable. 5. Provides set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies. 6. Maintains logging system as required for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization process, crash cart, point of care testing or others as needed. 7. Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy. 8. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations. 9. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances. 10. Assists in the maintenance of medical charts (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms). 11. May schedule surgeries/procedures or work in conjunction with Surgical Coordinator verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary. 12.
