Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Surgical Tech works under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The surgical tech recognizes significant conditions and reactions of the patient and notifies the appropriate patient care team as necessary. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Surgical Technologist I: Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program with the ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum working in a Surgical Tech role. Position Summary The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive health care for assigned patients/community as determined by scope of practice guidelines and specialty. This includes completion of a health assessment, determining diagnosis, planning and prescribing treatment within the parameters of medical staff privileges at the University of Illinois and area of expertise. The APRN participates in the educational experiences of nursing students, medical students, residents and other health care disciplines. The APRN is required to have and maintain a faculty appointment in order to receive clinical privileges to practice at the University of Illinois. This position will primarily focus on outpatient women's health care including obstetrics and gynecology, preconception counseling, early pregnancy education, and menopausal care. The APRN will work closely with physician faculty, residents, nursing staff, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team while contributing to the educational mission of UICOMP. Duties & Responsibilities Manage the care of patients within assigned area and/or area of expertise and within parameters of medical staff privileges. Obtain relevant patient health history. Study and interpret patient tests and records. Perform physical exam and record findings. Perform various diagnostic, preventive and/or therapeutic procedures and/or order special screenings and developmental or laboratory tests to diagnose conditions; interpret results. Prescribe/order appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and develop a treatment plan. Develop an educational plan for patient/family.
