Director of Nursing (DON) Facility: The Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Location: Southampton, NY Schedule: Full-Time Salary: $180,000–$200,000 annually About the Role The Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations and ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and resident care in our 280-bed skilled nursing facility. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily nursing operations across all units. Lead and support ADONs, Unit Managers, and nursing staff. Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and coverage. Monitor quality of care, clinical outcomes, falls, infections, wounds, and other key indicators. Ensure accurate clinical documentation and required assessments. Lead nursing education, competencies, and performance improvement initiatives. Maintain compliance with NYS DOH, CMS, and regulatory requirements. Participate in surveys, audits, investigations, and Plans of Correction. Address resident and family clinical concerns and ensure timely follow-up. Collaborate with the Administrator, Medical Director, Rehab, Social Services, and other departments. Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and resident-centered care. Qualifications Current New York State RN license required. Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; skilled nursing/long-term care experience preferred. Previous DON, ADON, or nursing leadership experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of CMS and NYS nursing home regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead a large nursing department in a fast-paced 280-bed facility. Experience with SigmaCare preferred. BLS certification and de-escalation training ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept) TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU) For Emergency Dept: PALS, TNCC (within first year) Behavioral health RNs: CPI and BERT training within the first 6 months. *BLS, ACLS, PALS must be through AHA* Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity Practice reflects customer service excellence. Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format. Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems. Maintains knowledge and proficiency in the clinical area and age group served. Ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs. Ability to frequently push/pull more than 100 lbs. Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb steps/ladder and reach above shoulders.. For Critical Care: 1 year ICU/SDU experience. For ASU RN: 1 year critical care experience preferred.
