Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. To be familiar with all policies and procedures. Be able to seek appropriate guidance as needed. Work in collaboration with medical doctors in emergent situations and support and promote family centered care and maintain effective communication with family members. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of a 3-4 days/week including weekends. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills in change management, emotional intelligence and demonstrated leadership experience in a residential or behavioral health setting. The RN Supervisor will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week. This includes, but is not limited to, incident reports, medication errors and abuse and neglect reporting Collaborate with Nurse Manager, supervise and support nursing staff, including performance evaluations, coaching and counseling. Interprets policies and procedures for nursing staff and other services. Provides education and training as needed regarding policy and procedure. Provides input to Team Leaders on a regular basis regarding employee performance on their shift, and intervenes as necessary to provide coaching, counseling and/or progressive discipline. When providing same follows all rules of regulations of the Center, the SDOH and the 1199 bargaining unit. Takes responsibility to arrange coverage for scheduled shift if unable to provide coverage as planned. Displays flexibility and willingness to assure house coverage is provided when requested. Maintains accurate and clear records regarding changes in shift assignment in accordance with rules of the Center and the 1199 bargaining unit contract. Uses SBAR and other tools, such as 24 hours report to objectively document resident/family concerns Manages night medication cabinet and seeks solutions to obtain medication for residents if needed. Attends management meetings as required, this includes Operations Meetings and other Management Training as scheduled Rounds on Neighborhoods for the purpose of obtaining clinical information on residents, to support and educate staff, to assist with family issues and endorses complete information to next shift. Promotes 24 x7 accurate, objective clinical and administrative reports. Follow-up on status of residents transferred to other facilities and reports follow up to oncoming shift, Team Leader and physician Communicates effectively with Center Departments regarding resident/family needs on tour of duty and documents communication in a clear and concise manner. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program B.S. N. (required); M.S.N. preferred RN in the State of New York BCLS certificate PALS certification preferred Completion of courses mandated for continuation of RN license, (ex. Infection Control course; Child Abuse course.) Experience Minimum of two years pediatric experience. Minimum of three years experience in supervisory role. Experience in pediatric and adolescent chronic and restorative nursing modalities preferred. Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Nurse Manager of the Operating Room position is to operationalize the care delivery system in the Operating Room through the skillful directing, coaching, support, and delegation to staff in the provision of clinically and fiscally sound care and services to achieve patient/family goals, efficiency, and safety. The Nurse Manager has 24 hours responsibility for the unit/service area and develops dynamically functioning surgical teams. She/he sustains the daily operational functioning of the surgical service and makes immediate modifications to prevent impediments and delays. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY Serves as a clinical assistant to the licensed nursing staff by performing nursing procedures, basic patient care tasks in a manner that is reflective the ESC Core Values under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Provide or assist residents with activities of daily living. Performs therapeutic procedures for children such as bathing, grooming, playing, feeding, positioning as per policy and procedure. Document appropriately on all flow sheets. Assist RN and LPN as necessary in the performance of nursing care tasks. Observe, report and record abnormal vital signs, temperatures, seizures activity, vomiting, diarrhea, behavior changes or any other abnormalities to the RN or LPN in charge. Performs all assigned duties in accordance with the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation’s policy and procedures Bath residents according to the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation policy and Procedure. Inspect resident’s skin and promptly report any changes to the NCC. Carries out mouth care, hair care and as necessary trim finger and toe nails. Make two hourly checks on incontinent residents and wash and change as necessary. Encourages self-help measures as appropriate so that each child may reach his/her appropriate level of independence. Check and record urine and bowel movements. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Performs restorative and rehabilitative activities as instructed and as directed by Plan of Care. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Feeds residents or teaches residents to feed themselves as appropriate. Ensure that hands are washed (child and caregivers) and that meal times are pleasant, dignified experiences Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Successful completion of NYS approved Nurse Assistant Certification Program Active CNA Certification on NYS Nurse Aide Registry required Experience Experience working with children. One year of experience as Nurse’s Aide preferred Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
