Department Critical Care Job Summary Welcome to our Critical Care Nursing Department! Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN’s Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in. Med/Surg/Neuro: Patient Population : patients with a primary medical and neuro diagnosis requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to: Acute Strokes receiving thrombolytics/endovascular treatments Cardiac arrest/ hypothermia Craniotomies/ Ventriculostomy CRRT Managing patients on ventilators/Bipap Titration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators) Initiation and titrating sedation/analgesic drips *Opportunities for Novice and Experienced Nurses : Individualized orientation Nurse Residency for all new graduates with the implementation of ECCO (essentials of critical care orientation) Tuition Reimbursement Opportunities for paid certification and incentivized pay including but not limited to CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), TCAR Critical Care Internship with knowledge base lecture series provided in the department *No new grads being hired at this time. Teaches the patient and family/caregiver self-care techniques as appropriate. Provides medication, diet and other instructions as ordered by the physician and recognizes and utilizes opportunities for health counseling with patients and families/caregivers. Works in concert with the interdisciplinary group. 7. Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient. 8.
