Job Details Job Summary: The Cardiothoracic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the medical care team whose primary responsibility is the management of complex and independent patient evaluation and management functions. The Cardiothoracic APP shall provide patient care commensurate with their level of advancement, competence and privileges, under the supervision of appropriately credentialed attending. The Cardiothoracic APPs require excellent interpersonal and communication skills integral to the success of a Cardiothoracic APP. The Cardiothoracic APP converses with patients in a manner that promotes understanding and develops positive clinician-patient relationships that helps to enhance good health outcomes. A Cardiothoracic APP must also have strong analytical skills to study clinical situations correctly and be compassionate to make the health of patients their priority and primary concern. The Cardiothoracic APP contributes to the collaborative patient care, to the research, teaching and consulting of patient care, provides leadership to St. Francis Hospital & Good Samaritan Hospital and to the PA & NP profession. Job Description The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Assistant Director of Nursing / Nurse Practitioner, Dermatology. The successful candidate will: Provide same-day procedures, infusion/laser referrals. Document all care provided in the patients' medical records. Develop further, maintain/manage patients care panel with participation in managed care programs and other direct patient care programs as applicable. On a daily basis, review all laboratory and radiology reports to identify abnormal results for urgent follow-up. Ensure that patients are contacted to arrange additional care and that their primary providers are notified. Participate and provide departmental and Family Medicine educational activities to medical students, allied health professional students. Participate in hospital and departmental health fairs, community health education events and speak to community groups, when requested. Attend staff meetings and, as required, write nurse practitioner protocols, in collaboration with the Medical Director. Stay abreast of developments in Dermatology health care. Job Summary In the ICU of a hospital, patients are often in critical condition and need constant monitoring and care. ICU nurses review data from special equipment to track a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and other vitals. They also carry out more traditional nursing duties such as administering medications and communicating with patients regarding their condition. Essential Functions Performs a thorough and timely assessment of patient’s condition including physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative aspects.
