Annually, the clinic has more than 80,000 patient encounters, which includes Primary Care and Gynecology as well as specialty clinics in sports medicine, orthopedics, gynecology, physical therapy, counseling and psychological services, travel clinic and allergy clinic. Weekend acute care is provided on Saturdays from 8am - 5pm. On site ancillary services include pharmacy, OTC pharmacy, Student Stores Pharmacy, Mini-Clinic, medical laboratory, and radiology. UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina collaborates with Student Wellness and Campus Recreation and other Student Affairs partners to provide education and outreach to assist in keeping the campus population healthy. Education and research comprise another important function of UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina. We provide clinical rotations and practicums for students in the School of Education, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work and Public Health, Department of Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Health and Radiology. In addition, the clinic serves as a research site for a number of faculty and graduate student grants and contracts, where staff participates with the principal investigators across a variety of medical specialties. The per diem Physician Practice Nurse provides patient care within the scope of practice for the licensed Registered Nurse. Facilitates patient flow and assists with prioritization of work assignments. Responsibilities : 1. Maintains compliance with organizational policies and procedures. 2. Demonstrates competence in patient care skills within the scope of practice for the Registered Nurse, to include patient assessment, assisting with exams and procedures, administering medications, and patient education. 3. Processes orders, returns patient calls, and notifies of diagnostic results as directed by the physician. 4. Appropriately documents care provided in the patient's medical record. 5. Facilitates effective patient flow and assists with prioritization of work assignments. 6. Assists with the maintenance of adequate levels of supplies and performs and documents medical equipment safety checks. 7. Adheres to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. Recognizes, supports and utilizes evidence-based nursing practices. 8. Services are intended for situations where no household member, relative, caregiver, landlord, community agency, volunteer agency, or third-party payer is able or willing to meet the assessed and required medical, psychosocial, and functional needs of the approved CAP Beneficiary. The CAP Assessor is responsible for the completion of needs-based eligibility determinations for North Carolinians who are applying for these Medicaid-funded personal care services provided in their home or in adult care or supervised living homes. The CAP Assessor is responsible for completion of needs-based assessments of level of care (LOC) to allow targeted individuals to remain in or return to a home and community-based setting. Assessments are generally performed in the beneficiary’s primary residence. Daily tasks include processing CAP SRFs (services referral forms). If there are inquiries related to SRF processing, initiate RAIs (Requests for Additional Information) exclusively for SRFs that have been pending for three days or less. In cases where an SRF is missing the required information, issue a Technical Denial (TD) and document the reasons in the communication log. Monitor the CAP SRF queue each day to comply with the contract's stipulation of a maximum of 14 business days in the queue. Prior to processing SRFs, check for potential duplicate beneficiaries. Additionally, complete CAP SRF 2nd level when necessary. Responsibilities: Your primary role will be completing CAPDA and CAPC comprehensive assessments. You may also receive cross‑training in up to four additional areas, Minimum Hours: 16 Training Requirements: Training may span up to seven (7) consecutive days. Includes up to four (4) days of remote learning followed by three (3) days of field training. This unit provides both medical and postoperative care. Though this unit can care for a wide variety of patient types, most of our patients require short-term monitoring and treatment. Currently, this unit can support 12-17 beds. However, this team will transition to a newly constructed, 24 bed unit scheduled to open in September 2026. New teammates will have the opportunity to contribute to the workflow development, unit culture and care delivery in a modern, expanded clinical environment. Overview The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing total comprehensive nursing to patients and their families through the implementation of a plan of care. The plan is based upon the patient's developmental and health care needs identified through the assessment of the patient's physical, psychological, socioeconomic status, and physician orders regarding care, treatment, and education. The Clinical Nurse understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of patient care services. The Clinical Nurse actively supports and incorporates ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, North Carolina Board of Nursing Practice Act, WakeMed's Division of Nursing Professional Practice model, and WakeMed's Patient & Family Centered Care (PFCC) model.
