Job Description Responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Monitors patients, administers medications, keeps records, consults with healthcare providers, educates patients and more. Principal Accountabilities Maintains accurate, complete health care records and reports. Administers medications to patients and monitors them for side effects and reactions. Prescribes assistive medical devices and related treatments. Monitors, reports, and records symptoms or changes in patient conditions. Assesses, implements, plans, or evaluates patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members. Records patient vital signs and medical information. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. BLS certification. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in nursing. All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date. Master’s degree in nursing or related field. 1+ year of experience in Nursing or relevant area. ACLS certification. Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position : Under supervision, provides professional nursing care to patients/clients within an assigned unit. Diagnoses and treats responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case-finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive to and restorative of life and well-being. Examples Of Typical Tasks Identifies and discriminates between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms. Selects and performs those therapeutic measures which are essential for effective execution of the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients. Develops, implements and continuously evaluates the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients. Records and maintains nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients to ensure continuity of care. Interprets and reports responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team. Participates with interdisciplinary health team members to plan a comprehensive patient care program. Determines and assigns those components of the nursing regimen which may be carried out by allied nursing personnel. Provides teaching, guidance and direction to allied nursing personnel in rendering patient care. Participates in defining, implementing, maintaining and interpreting standards of nursing practice. Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary conferences pertaining to policies and procedures affecting nursing practice. Participates in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to the delivery of nursing care services. Minimum Qualifications A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). Special Note For assignments in Post-Acute Care ONLY, individuals meeting the following criteria may also be considered for appointment: Graduation from a nursing education program registered by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as licensure qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse (RN) and has applied for licensure as an RN. The CTI RN will address the physical/medical health needs of program participants in community settings and during their transition after discharge. The CTI RN will have the unique opportunity to engage with participants who have found themselves in precarious situations that have negative impacts on their physical and mental wellbeing, with limited access to traditional health care options. A strong interest and/or experience working with patients to reduce health gaps and disparities caused by environmental, physical, and social determinants of health is highly preferred. Get to Know Your Team: Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU. Responsibilities PACU staff provides care for patients recovering from general, regional, or local anesthesia. Unless complicationsoccur, most patients only stay in the PACU for a few hours before returning home or to another department of the hospital. The PACU staff, generally composed of highly trained nurses, performs many tasks vital to the care of post-anesthesia and post- operative patients. These essential activities include: Monitoring vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and respiratory rate) Treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting (or PONV) Managing post-operative pain Treating post-anesthetic shivering Monitoring surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, redness, etc. Additionally, PACU RNs often coordinate the delivery of care for post-anesthesia patients immediately following surgical procedures, so that the physical, psychological, safety, rehabilitative and education needs of patients and their family members are met.
