Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care Center - Per Diem

This role assists in the day-to-day operations of the Wound Care Center, provides clinical support to physicians when needed, and coordinates patient care throughout the center. The nurse also performs data gathering and contributes to performance improvement initiatives as required to meet center standards, while providing leadership in the development of the center and supporting institutional goals. Responsibilities Reviews visits for appropriate patients who would benefit from referral to related services including the Hyperbaric program/wellness programs. Collects data on patient visit episodes and follow ups to maintain relevant department statistics. Answers and provides community with appropriate clinical information via phone, person and other. Establishes and maintains insurance matrix for participating physician's offices. Demonstrates professional networking with hospital staff, doctor's and other healthcare professionals. Assists in developing protocols, policies and promotes center services. Coordinates services with other health care personnel. Provides education to the patient/family regarding the disease processes and planned treatment/intervention. Provides instruction in the areas of health promotion, activity and medication as appropriate. Coordinates the workflow and patient assignments in the department. Demonstrates autonomy and ability to work independently. Assists in the coordination of the department's education/in-service schedule, and symposium schedule. Evaluates the patient's progress, goal attainment and need for further services following discharge. Monitors the department's inventory of supplies and orders supplies when needed. Tracks patients throughout system to insure high quality and expedite care paths. Maintains productivity within guidelines set by department. Cleans rooms between patient use. Follows standard precautions, isolation precautions, hand hygiene, and proper use of appropriate personnel protective equipment (PPE). Supports operations by demonstrating ability and willingness to float between units as an RN and provides 1:1 patient observation when deemed necessary Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing required Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire. Minimum of 1 year acute care RN experience required. Previous Wound Care experience preferred. Current NJ RN license required. BLS Certification required. Must demonstrate significant progress towards Wound Certification by approved credentialing agency with the goal of obtaining Certification in Wound Care within one year of hire. Specialty professional nursing certification preferred. Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team. Paid Holidays and Leave: ° Thirteen (13) paid holidays each year. ° Thirteen (13) days of paid vacation leave initially. ° Five (5) days paid personal leave each year. ° Thirteen (13) days of paid sick leave each year (PEF/CSEA), which may carry over from year to year. ° Up to three (3) days professional leave each year to participate in professional development events.
