Position Overview: The ADNS assists in managing the department of nursing and assumes responsibility delegated by the Director of Nursing Services (DNS). Key Responsibilities: Assist in interviewing applicants and recommend hiring of staff and scheduling. Participate in orientation and in-service education training. Participate in performance reviews and personnel files; enforce the personnel policies of the community, including disciplining and terminating care team members. Assist DNS in ensuring compliance with regulations for documentation from physicians and nursing personnel and ensuring that all regional policies/procedures are implemented. Assist with care planning process. Make rounds daily to direct the work of care team members and to observe for hazards, work duty problems, and ensure services are delivered to clients consistent with needs. Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement and corrective follow-up actions. Follow up daily on each unit to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded and that services are provided. Under the direction of the DNS, complete chart audits and report results and progress, and makes recommendations for improvement to the DNS. Ensure proper infection control techniques are utilized. Maintain effective communication with families, residents and community staff. Qualifications: Current RN license by State Board of Nursing in state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing. Experience in the long-term care or working with the geriatric population preferred. Must have at least three years nursing experience and one year supervisory experience. Responsibilities Audubon’s ICU open heart unit is a 48 bed ICU with 36 ICU beds and 12 CVICU Beds. The large focus of this ICU unit is cardiac care with an emphasis in open heart recovery. They are the only Norton facility that is DNV VAD accredited. It is the ECMO center for Norton Healthcare. This unit sees complex, critically ill patients. A professional nurse is an individual accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe effective patient and family centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education and satisfaction. The RN applies his/her educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. UofL Hospital: The Surgical Services Department at UofL Hospital is comprised of several departments in multiple locations. The department provides services to adult patients in the areas of inpatient and outpatient surgery, endoscopy, pain management, interventional nephrology, and infusion services. Surgical specialties include general surgery, colorectal, plastics, urology, vascular and endovascular therapeutics, thoracic, surgical oncology, trauma, OB-GYN, gynecologic oncology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, ENT, oral maxillofacial, hand surgery and podiatry. Endoscopy specialties include gastroenterology, general surgery, colorectal surgery and pulmonology. UofL Hospital has 22 operating rooms. Fourteen of these rooms are main operating rooms located within UofL Hospital with two featuring the da Vinci® Robot and integrated to meet the needs of these robotic surgery procedures. The other four operating rooms are located at the UofL Physicians – Outpatient Surgery Center. Over 12,000 procedures are completed in our operating rooms annually. Additional Job Description: Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is (required) All new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within one (1) year of hire and complete an approved BSN program within three (3) years of hire (required at UofL Hospital only) . Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred) Experience: All new RN graduates will participate in the Nurse Residency program and must successfully complete all activities (required) Two years of hospital patient care experience (preferred) Licensure: Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required) Certification: Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (may be required for specific clinical areas)
