Your Role on the Team Position Summary The Spine Coordinator will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to grow, develop and support the second opinion program, second opinion research, and the Spine Comprehensive Center at UCI Health. Duties will include triaging and facilitating care to spine patients, patient and staff education, data collection, protocol development, ensuring compliance with guidelines and current measures. The coordinator must be able to work in a self-directed environment, with the willingness and ability to collaborate with other members of the team. The incumbent functions independently providing direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the patients in Spine Center. Incumbent is accountable for the quality of nursing practice and functions as the primary contact for spine patients. Provides education as needed to the patients/family related to spine care, diagnostic procedures, medication and other complex aspects of the plan of care. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assures that the continuum of care process is complete to include: pre-procedure, surgery, hospitalization, anticipated discharge needs, and follow up in the physician offices. Provides nursing services as needed and assists with other activities as assigned to help grow the practice and the referrals to the Spine Comprehensive Center. Job Summary: Under the medical supervision of an Anesthesiologist, administers general and regional anesthesia for all types of surgical, obstetrical and other procedures that require anesthesia services, to patients of various age groups including: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric in accordance with hospital and departmental standards of care. Such intervention may include, but not be limited to: airway management; maintenance of fluid balance; homeostasis; monitoring; response to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and management of patients on ventilators. Precepts student nurse anesthetists. Maintains an accurate accounting of controlled substances in accordance with departmental guidelines. Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician. Assist doctors with charting Chart auditing, CPT and ICD-9 review Venipunctures, EKG's, Vital Signs, Blood draws, and Injections Prep patients for examination and treatment, and assist during minor office procedures Prepare exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications Medical Assistant experience CPT I certification Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections.
