Summary Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager (or designee) implements, supervises and evaluates the nursing care of each patient using a nursing process and in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. From admission to discharge, plans with consideration of the aging process throughout the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns. Minimum Qualifications Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Basic Knowledge Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred. Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Collaborates and communicates on a regular basis with the RN/Clinical Manager and members of the interdisciplinary team as needed. Assists patients and families in accessing appropriate community resources. Records documentation to reflect patient care. Documentation is clear, concise and addresses specifics of teaching, direct care and response of patient / caregiver. Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the supervising provider to provide the highest standards of support to the MACC practice. Delivers excellent customer service to patients through participation in a medical care team. Demonstrates a high level of competence with support in accordance with MACC’s policies and procedures. Description Assists in providing clinical care to office patients as delegated by supervising provider Manages provider’s daily schedule and patient flow to expedite care and maximize clinical time Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, and checks two-patient identifiers Communicates status of delegated task completion to supervising provider Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs as indicated (i.e. height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation) Inputs pertinent clinical information into the electronic health record timely and with accuracy and collects home medication lists Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department. Keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information pertaining to the patient’s visit Prepare and maintain exam rooms for patient arrivals. Clean and/or maintain inventory of supplies (medical included) and equipment throughout the practice. Notifies supervisor to order clinical supplies, clinical equipment and pharmaceuticals as appropriate Under the supervision of a provider, administers routine injections when delegated, and documents in real time and with accuracy Participates in practice and department meetings, trainings, etc. to promote continuous improvement of quality patient care Takes initiative to learn, understand, and stay current with community resources and the greater healthcare system Maintains patient rights and abides by all confidentiality obligations pursuant to CCHC and HIPAA Provides clerical/office support as necessary (i.e. scheduling appointments, greeting and registering patients, scanning incoming medical records and paperwork, preparing medical records, answering phone calls and taking messages, faxing, etc.) Ability to float to other MACC practices when required Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested Qualifications Ability to read, write and communicate in English Medical Assistant - Certification from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Completion of a post-secondary medical assisting program required for PCP Office (Preferred for Specialty Office) Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.) Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred Schedule Details: 20 hours per week, Monday and Wednesday, 7am-5pm.
