Overview About the Role Participates as an essential member of the healthcare team by providing clinical lactation therapy for patients. Provides education and consultative services related to breastfeeding. Serves as a resource for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in order to promote optimal patient care. Designs and provides patient and staff education programs. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Initiates and receives referrals from physicians, nursing staff, and patients. Develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients requiring lactation services. Assesses the educational needs of the breastfeeding mother and family. Identifies an individual plan to meet the breastfeeding mother’s needs. Assures that lactation services are provided in a timely manner. Provides direct patient care lactation service to patients. Performs in-patient consultations at the bedside and out-patient consultations, as necessary. Provides individual teaching and group classes to breastfeeding patients and families. Documents Breastfeeding Education and related Patient Assessment. Records teaching and progress on appropriate documentation. Submits accurate and timely documentation of billable services. Educates, guides, assists, and serves as a resource to nursing staff, other members of the healthcare team and community who provide care to breastfeeding mothers. Develops teaching plans and curriculum for patient education programs on breastfeeding. Assists with educational programs and consultation/support for the nursing staff. Assists in the development and/or review of all literature related to infant feeding that is distributed to patients in the hospital. Confers regularly, when appropriate, with the relevant obstetrician, pediatrician, and nursing staff member on each patient’s special needs and progress in breastfeeding. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s Degree required. Currently Certified as a Lactation Consultant by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. At least one (1) year of work or volunteer related lactation education counseling experience required. Requires skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. Basic computer knowledge and ability to use audiovisual equipment required. Fluency in additional languages preferred. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to participate under the administrative, clinical direction and leadership of the Director of the Neonatology Program and in collaborative relationship in the (Mother-Baby Unit), Neonatal Intensive Care Units (FICN and FIN Nurseries), Labor and Delivery areas with the other healthcare providers. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. Overview About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in the Surgery Practices utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of surgical conditions/diseases. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Collects comprehensive patient health data/history including past and present medical, surgical, family, and social history. Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted, and documented at the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit. Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management. In collaboration with the physician, critically analyzes the assessment data/diagnostic tests and determines a diagnosis. In addition, develops a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes. Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes. Monitors for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence. Appropriately manages medical and anticoagulation management emergencies according to protocol/policy. Prescribes and/or orders medications. Obtains appropriate consents for surgery and procedures. Ensures completion of all needed pre-operative tests, forms, and documents. Documents assessments, prescribing, plan, modifications to plan, and evaluation of care in the EMR. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master’s degree in nursing and eligible for certification by a national certifying body. A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey is required. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience and current BLS certification are required. The OR Technician I performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician I delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care.
