Genesis Surgical Services (Outpatient Surgery/PACU RN) Offers: Sign-on bonus opportunities (up to $15,000) for positions that are 24 hours a week or more An additional $1.00 per hour is available to eligible RNs with a BSN Self-Scheduling Process Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) Free in-house certification programs including BCLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ASLS Annual competencies to reinforce skill set Outpatient Surgery/PACU RN Available Hours: Full Time – 60 hours to 72 hours every two weeks PRN – Must work at least 96 hours every six months Call expectations: 30-minute response time Approx. 1 call shift a week Approx. every 8th weekend call Approx. 1 Holiday call a year Varied shifts dependent on department needs. Overview of the position: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients in an efficient and caring manner. Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Works independently with minimal supervision. Ensures OR environment remains sterile during procedure. Meets the needs of the ST, Surgeon, anesthesia, and patient during the procedure. Services as a patient advocate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner. 2. Takes and records measurements or readings. 3. Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient. 4. Administers prescribed medications. 5. Accurately captures all applicable patient charges and submits on appropriate form in a timely manner. 6. Demonstrates proper decontamination of instrumentation, re-sterilization and accurate completion of sterilization logs. 7. Facilitates cost reduction per procedure by not opening supplies that are not needed. 8. Participates in maintaining physician preference cards. 9. Accepts on-call schedule and responds to on-call activation within 30 minutes. 10. Uses Epic system to enter orders, confirm orders, print reports. May use other computer programs required in area of responsibility. 11. May be asked to serve on department specialty focus team. 12. Documents implant records completely and accurately. Ensure correct charges are documented. 13. Follows Time-Out Policy. 14. Leads counts and ensures Count Policy is followed. 15. Patient Advocate. 16. Hand Off Reporting to recovering nurse. Position Details: Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Department: Electrophysiology Overview of Position: The advanced nurse practitioner will assist a physician in the global management of patient care in the ambulatory and acute settings.; The advanced nurse practitioner role will include providing diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventative care, under the supervision of a physician in one of the following specialties: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Neurology, Pulmonary &; Critical Care Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation &; Pain Management, Psychiatry, Radiology, Urology, Endocrinology, Hospice &; Palliative Care, Infectious Disease, Sports Medicine, Rheumatology, Sleep Medicine, Nephrology. The nurse practitioner will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care, frequently advising patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or providing case management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other specialized tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. 2. Must be able to work with a collaborating physician. 3. Performs and interprets, standard laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as privileged by Genesis Credentialing Board 4. Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illness and injury as privileged by the Genesis Credentialing Board. 5. May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing/Medicine and Genesis Credentialing Board. 6. May need to take call and work some off-hour shifts as needed. 7. Perform in-hospital consultations. Facilitates appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management. 8. Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary 9. Participates in quality monitoring thru the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes periodically to assure quality care 10. Discharge planning – Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explains discharge instructions and confirms follow-up appointments. 11. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. APRN: EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited APRN training program. 2. Current Ohio RN and APRN licensure 3. Must have a current certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by the Ohio Board of Nursing. 4. Current DEA registration (for Interventional Radiology only) 5. Acute Care, Surgical, Critical Care, or Trauma Experience Preferred. 6. Required certifications: BLS to be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
