The successful candidate: Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care. Responsible for the assessment, treatment care and education of patients. Cares for ICU, Medical Surgical, and telemetry patients as necessary. Ability to conduct risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injury Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions. Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients. Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines. Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure- based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors. Ability to care for patients with IV lines, arterial lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes. Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy. Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters. Demonstrates basic knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents. Must be able to work 2 12's, 7:00p-7:30a Qualifications Your qualifications should include: 1 year experience in ICU/Inpatient Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to acquire attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained. Other Duties and Responsibilities • Ensure provider order for admission is present upon client admission to the program. • Organize and document required monthly nursing meeting and other necessary meetings as warranted. • Manage the maintenance of all nursing related spaces and equipment. • Ensure proper nursing documentation is entered for each client including but not limited to daily shift notes, weekly updates, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, contact notes and discharge summaries. • Review and document employee performance 90 days after hire, annually, and as needed per company policy. • Manage performance improvement/disciplinary action as warranted according to policy and document performance management as required. • Nurse Manager or designee to attend and present all necessary nursing related information in weekly staffing for all clients. • Coordinate with providers to ensure that necessary communication and documentation is maintained; specifically relating to the ongoing medical, psychiatric, nursing and medication management of client care. • Responsible for oversight of facility’s infection control/prevention program. • Responsible for ensuring that there are on-call nursing staff always designated. • Receive facility-related calls and come in for uncovered shifts when all other options have been exhausted (per-diem staff, part-time staff, full-time staff and Agency are unavailable). • Attend Nursing Leadership calls/meetings monthly, and as needed. • Assist with insurance issues as needed or designated by Vice President of Nursing Operations, or designee. • Coordinate and ensure that all admission requirements are completed per organization policy. • Ensure proper destruction / return of all medications is completed per policy and regulatory standards. • Maintain adequate inventory and supply of necessary nursing related items in accordance with monthly operational budget. • Assist with additional program needs as requested by the Vice President of Nursing Operations, Clinical Director or designee. • Seek opportunities to increase self-knowledge to improve the quality of client care provided. • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and State/License regulatory standards and company policy. • In an emergency or declared state of emergency, may be required to stay onsite as a part of the emergency team until emergency has ended. • Demonstrates ability to identify and refer legal and/or ethical issues in client care to the Clinical Director or Director of Compliance.
