The Registered Nurse (RN) cares for a diverse population that includes primary and revision joint replacement as well as neurosurgery patients recovering primarily from procedures such as cervical and lumbar fusions and revisions. Many of our patients participate in Joint Academy before they undergo surgery followed by participation in the Recovery Coach program following surgery. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) will assume responsibility and accountability for the adult and geriatric patients undergoing continuous monitoring for cardiac, post-surgical, respiratory, and/or psychiatric diagnoses. The CCU RN will often be active participants in bedside procedures with physicians. He/She will be responsible for certain specialty equipment and procedures such as managing arterial lines, ventilators, hypothermia protocol, and performing peritoneal dialysis.
