Madigan is a premier teaching facility, which means CRNAs there have a unique set of responsibilities involving both high-acuity clinical care and the instruction of residents and students. Pre-Anesthesia Clinic: Conducting comprehensive evaluations in the Surgical Services Center to optimize patients before surgery, a critical role given the high volume of bariatric and orthopedic procedures at Madigan. Independent Practice: Functioning with significant autonomy to develop and execute anesthetic plans, including the selection of pharmacological agents and invasive monitoring (arterial/central lines). Interdisciplinary Pain Management: Collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Pain Management Center (IPMC) to provide advanced pain relief techniques for both acute post-surgical recovery and chronic pain conditions. Rapid Response: Serving as a primary expert for difficult intubations and emergency resuscitations (ACLS/PALS) throughout the hospital and Emergency Department. Clinical Instruction: Providing oversight, bedside teaching, and formal evaluations for Student Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) and residents. Curriculum Support: Delivering in-services, workshops, and case studies to ensure the anesthesia staff remains current on the latest DoD anesthesia protocols. Job Description Harborview Medical Center Inpatient Acute Care Float APP (ARNP; Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant) This opening is for 100% FTE, Days; (and with weekend and holiday coverage, and with the potential for some night shifts). The Inpatient Acute Care Float APP team is composed of licensed physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are skilled and trained to work across multiple services at Harborview (currently including General Surgery, Medicine Polytrauma Service, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, & Burns). Float APPs possess the ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and provide comprehensive care. They play a critical role, filling in when there are staffing shortages, leaves and fluctuating demands. Work is performed 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility under the general guidance of the attending physicians or fellows, lead APP and APP assistant director. Guidelines include general policy procedures and practice guidelines established by the department and Harborview Medical Center, as well as appropriate professional and technical manuals. A Fred Hutch Cancer Center ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of multiple service lines of adult oncology patients at our community site at Northwest Hospital. They will actively coordinate the complex care of cancer patients undergoing both systemic anti-cancer therapy and radiation therapy. The incumbent will manage side-effects of these therapies, order appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies; prescribe medications and refer patient to other specialists as necessary. The incumbent may provide for post-treatment cancer patients follow-up visits for the medically indicated period after completion of treatment. The incumbent will also provide psychological support to patients by participating in patient and/or family teaching and refer patients to community agencies and other resources to promote optimal adjustment and functioning. This position requires the ability to lead other clinical staff, be accountable for the work required in this position, the ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment, and the relentless pursuit of excellent patient centered care. This clinic provides a broad range of services including GI, Lung, GU, Breast, and Hematologic Malignancies and Radiation therapy. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues.
