Maintains productivity levels that are aligned with patient census, curtailing unnecessary overtime and/or excessive staff work hours. Manages staff scheduling and maintains an updated plan for contingency staffing. Maintains accountability expectations for self and staff in all areas of job performance. Engages staff in quality and safety basics to ensure sustained, measurable compliance. Identifies staff educational needs and ensures they are addressed with education programs that are attended by staff. Holds staff accountable for non-compliance and patient safety concerns, as well as attendance, following policies, behavior, and adherence to code of conduct. Performs rounds to all inpatient treatment units to provide monitoring, supervision, direction, and assistance as needed. Schedules staff to ensure full coverage at all times and to ensure staffing is accurate according to established guidelines and unit needs. Assures admission intake assessments are completed accurately and followed up per Hospital policy, provides referrals as needed or assists with admissions. Participates in interviewing, orienting, mentoring, retaining, and training of staff as needed. Documents medical, behavioral health information and nursing care. Administers medications and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures. Provides structure and maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patients and other care providers. Coordinates with Human Resources in reviewing staff timecards for payroll pre-process to ensure accurate employee worked hours. Ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained for the units and completes purchase order requests as needed. Collects and organizes the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and the Destruction of Medication Log upon patient discharge as submitted by Nurses. Addresses employee performance improvement issues at the time noticed and assists with any follow-up as necessary. Assists in collection of data to develop QI reports and graphs. May work a shift on a specific unit when all other efforts in filling the shift has been exhausted. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Two or more years’ experience as an RN required. One or more years’ experience in behavioral health experience required. LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable. Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred. CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). Registered Nurses are assigned to PODs to assist patients recovering from surgeries: Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. While working in this unit you will care for patients that have renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure for a well-rounded nursing experience. This is a telemetry-monitored unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days. This unit also has 6 beds that are for Epilepsy monitoring and is the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit. Join our amazing team!
