How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies. Key Responsibilities Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse - OBGYN position is to provide patient care (neonate to maturity) based on the identified individualized needs of assigned patients and families within the clinical nursing role. The Staff Nurse will assess, screen, evaluate, educate, and provide care management/outcome management in accordance with professional nursing standards and patient needs. The role of the Staff Nurse also includes practice/office support. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Provides independent/interdependent/dependent procedural care in accordance with nursing scope of practice andprovides complex nursing skills and clinical judgment as needed. Ensures on a continuing basis that all required nursing interventions are performed for assigned patients as observed by Director. Communicates to all levels of health care team and management team necessary information and/or unusualoccurrences in accordance with established UH or ACC policies and procedures and assessed patient’s need. Administers, monitors, and documents medications and immunizations in accordance with established UH or ACC policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team. Provides effective communication of all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established UH policies and procedures. Documents all aspects of patient care via the electronic medical record and/or manual records as necessary in accordance with Nursing and UH standards. Develops and maintains good human relations skills consistent with the principles of the Service Excellence Standards with employees, patients, medical staff, and visitors. Develops and/or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with UH standards and State/Federal regulations. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey/BSN preferred. Current IV/Venous Access Device Certification required. Preferred: Two years’ experience in Maternal – Child; Obstetrical and Gynecological specialties preferred, having worked in an Ambulatory Care Service/outpatient care setting, preferred. ANA certification preferred. Ambulatory Care Certification preferred. Two years’ experience in specialty procedures to include but not limited to: Fetal Monitoring, Non-Stress Testing preferred. Lactation Counseling Certification (CLC) preferred.
