Overview T he Registered Nurse Float I provides individualized nursing care services within the standards of nursing practice: assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education. This Registered Nurse will float between the ICU, CVU and Med/Surg unit. Responsibilities Incumbents in this position will: Perform accurate and complete assessments on patients within established time frames; requests consult as indicated. Establishes and updates a patient plan of care based on periodic assessments. Assists with providing for the physical comfort and safety of patients (i.e. bath and linen changes, administration of medication(s), dietary intake, and other necessary treatments). Ensures security of patient’s personal items and reports discrepancies to supervisor in a timely fashion. Attend rounds with physicians as indicated, assist with exams, discuss patient progress. Review and implement physician’s orders. Provide concise bedside report regarding patients' status to the on-coming shift. Demonstrates the proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintains adequate supply levels through the use of accurate inventory control. Obtains and verifies consent forms. Supervises and gives assignments to the staff assigned to his/her patients. Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs, and defibrillator or other emergency treatment. Regularly evaluate patient’s level of pain using an approved pain scale, as evidenced by documentation on the medical record. Intervenes in a timely manner to alleviate patient’s pain and evaluate the effectiveness of relief efforts, as evidenced by documentation on the medical record. Educate patients and their families to pain management at UF Health St. Johns as evidenced by documentation on the medical record. Performs QA initiatives related to core Measures and Flagler Hospital Admission Standards. Provides and documents patient education based on assessed needs, including family and patient preferences in teaching as appropriate . Overview The Registered Nurse Supervisor will provide supervision and evaluate clinical staff (RN, LPN, MA, tech, and CCA) and participate in the evaluation of clerical staff in collaboration with their documented supervisor. Overview Job Duties An Advanced Practice Provider V (APP V) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Clinical Area - 90% of their time is spent with inpatients, 85% of this time is in the OR. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting GSV, open vein harvest, GSV and LSV, radial artery harvest, open and endoscopically, open femoral artery/vein cannulation for bypass. • Invasive monitoring and placement of arterial and central venous lines, insertion and removal of thoracostomy tubes, insertion of central lines, including Swan-Ganz catheters, TLC, insertion and removal of IABP, removal of temporary pacer wires, insertion of arterial lines, NG/OG tube insertion, insertion of foley catheters, 1st assistant techniques. • Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. May perform those routine medical treatments and diagnostic procedures for which they are qualified to perform by training and which fall within the normal scope of practice of the supervising physician. • Performance of histories and physical exams, pre and postoperative patient care, critical care, daily progress notes, obtain surgical consent, patient education, and discharge summaries. • Patient care in ICU including advanced knowledge of hemodynamic management, ventilators, and artificial cardiac devices. • First assist in surgery in all cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures. Recognize serious, life-threatening emergencies, evaluate them appropriately and ensure patient receives prompt care to stabilize.
