Maintains patient confidentiality. Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations. Approaches situations with distressed patients, families, and visitors in a calm, professional manner. Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients. Properly assesses and manages patient populations with appropriate intervention. Administers intravenous medications and / or parenteral nutrition. Administers blood products and evaluates patient response. Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing with either an Associate or Bachelor degree. License/Certification: La State Board of Nursing License and CPR required. ACLS and PALS preferred. Additional experience preferred: One year of RN experience preferred Current knowledge of clinical practice. Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment. Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
