Role and Responsibilities The Imaging Procedural Nurse is responsible and accountable for all nursing care provided to their patients. The Imaging Procedural Nurse must be willing to cross train and float to other Imaging Service areas to meet the needs of the facility. Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Performs and documents the NIHSS, administration and monitoring of thrombolytic therapy if patient deemed a candidate, preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated, assumes patient care of the stroke alert while in Interventional Radiology Department. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the NIHSS training and a minimum of 8 hours of stroke related training annually. Also, will be responsible for training new employees that are hired in the role of medical assistants for the orthopedic department. Specific functions are competency based.
