Each day our Emergency Department treats 300 to 400 patients with chronic and acute issues, ruling out life threatening conditions and intervening when necessary to stop the progression of acute processes. The team sees everything from sore throats, ear infections, lacerations and broken bones to more serious conditions like stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injuries from motor vehicle and farming accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings. Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I-accredited Trauma Center, recently completed a major expansion and remodel of the ED that nearly doubled the size of the department, from 63 beds to 95 beds. This includes 10 beds in our updated and expanded behavioral health unit, and 13 dedicated pediatric beds. Position Summary: Assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is an RN that practices as a full partner on the health care team and consistently demonstrates safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. As part of a highly productive cardiology group consisting of 30 physicians and 28 nurse practitioners, our General Cardiology nurse practitioner team rounds on the inpatient service and sees outpatients in the office setting. Occasional travel to a satellite office may be required. Our nurse practitioners enjoy collaborative practice with a high degree of autonomy.
