SUMMARY: The RN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Make written & oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of the shift as required. Admit, transfer and discharge residents as required. Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift. Complete & file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer and/or discharge. Receive & transcribe telephone orders from physicians & record on the Physician’s Order Form. Chart nurse’s notes in an informative & descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident’s response to the care. Fill out and complete accident/incident reports & submit to Director as required. Perform routine charting duties as required & in accordance with established charting & documentation policies & procedures. Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician. Develop & maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. Receive/give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, giving massages and range of motion exercises, etc., as required. Monitor your assigned personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the resident’s room. Provide IV & IV site care as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Overview Temporary Internal Registry Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Location: Kankakee Department: TelemetryStatus: Temporary Internal Registry (Full-Time .9)Shift: Night ShiftCompensation: $60.00 per hour (Flat Rate) Assignment Details: The assignment is expected to last 12 weeks; however, staffing needs will be evaluated on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted based on operational requirements. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current. 3. Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred. 6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below): 1. ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education 3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain.
