Develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients requiring lactation services. Assesses the educational needs of the breastfeeding mother and family. Identifies an individual plan to meet the breastfeeding mother’s needs. Assures that lactation services are provided in a timely manner. Provides direct patient care lactation service to patients. Performs in-patient consultations at the bedside and out-patient consultations, as necessary. Provides individual teaching and group classes to breastfeeding patients and families. Documents Breastfeeding Education and related Patient Assessment. Records teaching and progress on appropriate documentation. Submits accurate and timely documentation of billable services.
